Gluten

I am going to be seeing a Dr. that feels that a gluten free diet is going to make major changes in my life concerning fibro. Has anyone else heard of this or has tried this diet? I am curious.

Hi debluvspenguins, yes I've have been just diagnoised with Celiac Disease. Right now they have me on a glutten free diet, but they only want me to eat for breakfst, lunch and dinner, cottage cheese with pinapples for 2 weeks. Then i will go and find the food to eat. I ran into this web site and I thought I would share the link to you.

Thank you so much! I go on Monday, so I will see what they have to say and do. Hopefully, my insurance will cover this Dr. or I will have to find someone else. I have already done the no insurance with one Dr. and we ran out of money quick! Thanks for the website!

I am not in your group, but I am Celiac too, and also corn, milk and (sorry...can't remember)! LOL
I have Fibro too, which I had not associated with the Celiac connection!
My Mother has Celiac Disease...and of course, you must know that it is inherited! My daughters and several of my granddaughters also have to watch what they eat. We have found, in my entire family that corn and all products of corn, as well as fields of corn really give us trouble. Almost all sugar is adulterated with corn...cause when they run short on their "beet" sugar, they add corn sugar. Not fair!
With my milk problem I use Rice Milk. Celiac Disease is easy to work with. Betty Haagen's books are the very best. There are lots of flours that work well.
Just remember that Oats, Wheat, Rye, Barley and ??? are off limits! There are lots of others that do not work well too. Boy, I am sure having problems with remembering things this morning!
For my Fibro I am on Percocet as needed. It is wonderful. Cut so much pain! I am on Lyrica 200 mg at night. Tried Cymbalta and it was just plain awful!!!
WELCOME TO MY WORLD!!! My email is: salsaredfox@yahoo.com if you wish to correspond with me. I live in Sacramento, CA. Lots more people are being dx with this condition...more than ever and that means that there is lots more posted on it. I just got a cpap which is wonderful! I now do not need so many naps!!! The Celiac site just does not have anybody writing on it. Sad, but true.
Glad to find you and interested to think that Fibro might be related to Celiac! Love, Mary

Thanks for the information. I haven't been diagnosed with Celiac disease, at least not yet. But this Dr. feels that gluten is a huge factor in fibro care. He told me that many of the patients that go on a gluten free diet are relieved of many of their symtoms. We have been tested for the Celiac and it comes back ok, but the gluten is a real problem. Thanks so much for the information and if I decide to do this, I am sure I will be in touch with you! Thanks for the Cookbook idea, I am sure she will be my best friend!

Sorry everybody in late of reading my emails. Mary nice to have you in our group. I will tell you all this, that since I have been on the cottage cheese and pineapple diet I have lost 11 pounds with in 2 weeks. I needed to loose weight, because having all these autoimmune disease's you tain to gain weight. I know I did. I'm getting accustom to the cottage cheese thing and I love the results i'm getting. But the pain is still there, and still not active as I used to be in 2005. Maybe it's a long process getting off gluten. I just might email you Mary so that we can talk about it.
Take care ladies

Just a quick note, the Dr. that I am going to also feels that dairy is a factor in FM pain. I have put my diet off till the holidays are over. Felt I was in Failure mode before I even began. Want to research this more before I start. I told him there was no way I would try to do both diets at the same time. He agreed saying you need to find which or both are causing the pain.
