The Hard Problem of Consciousness

Why do physical processes give rise to conscious experience? Especially since quite a lot of human activity can be accomplished unconsciously (perception, memory,learning).

It is useless for me to doubt they are conscious, if there is "really" such a thing. But there is a little tickling in the back of my head that says that consciousness may be a delusion in the sense that it is not primary reality. It is at best a manifestation (maybe epiphenomenal).
