Early Winter

Oregon has had snow at higher elevations. yesterday we had an early fall storm. High winds and lots of rain. Leaves are coming down.

I've been patching pavement and cleaning out flower beds. Trying to get ready for the leaves. We are looking at trimming bushes and trees for winter- away from buildings and to prevent gutters from getting full.

City of Portland is no longer going to do free leaf pickup. Guess that is going to mean lots of compost piles, The alternative is to bag and put leaves bagged at the curb at $2.50 per 50 pound bag. That gets expensive fast.

We are checking heaters, windows and weather stripping at the rentals.

The one good thing- a few more nights of frost and we can put away the lawn mowers until spring.

Hi John,
The weather is getting chilly, just a couple of nights near freezing. Yeah, the leaves are coming down here too, but since I sided the house I didn't put gutters on so I don't have to worry about the leaf clogging problems anymore. Pool is closed , all the summer stuff is away.
I have a neighbor who bags his leaves and puts them out near the curb with a free sign on them and they are gone in a day. Hope everything goes well with the rentals, that's a lot of work.
