Vote today.....

Today the Senate Finance Committee voted on the Baucus Bill.....they got a token Rep.....

She made it very very clear that her vote today is not an assurance of the future.....

In other words, this one comes with a poison pill.....

Now, many things had been proposed by Reps and conservative Dems, but the "powers that be" appear to not be impressed and in fact rejected numerous proposed amendments, many of which may well have reduced the cost.....

Now, it is fair and right to point out that the "public option" was also proposed several times and shot down every time.....

Thus, it appears that Baucus wanted this bill to come out - more or less - as it had been written.....a good thing perhaps.....we shall see.....

It still must get "married up" with one other bill in the Senate.....

Then they must get married up in the "conference committee" and then pass both Houses.....

There is still time to push Congress to put the revised and married bills available for citizens to review - BEFORE - any vote.....

But recognize that some provisions need to be in place.....reigning in the rich malpractice lawyers that the Dem leadership appear to be bunk buddies with as a prime example.....and preventing the public option.....

But we shall see.....

Let me see if I have this right.....

The Dems want "reform" as do most Americans.....

Are we then saying that most Americans want $100s of Billions cut from Medicare?

Are then saying that most Americans want the good things that are working in the U.S. medical system (which is most of the system BTW) to be destroyed in favor of something else?

Are we then saying that most Americans want their health care delivered by the same folks who bring us the post office (gushing red ink), the IRS with their well-known compassion, the near bankrupt Social Security administration, and an administration that claimed they had no desire to take over car companies and banks and then promptly did so?

Are we then saying that most Americans want the Government's healthcare program to have out of control costs, which based on everything else they have tried, is a near guarantee?

Are we then saying that most Americans want radical tax increases to pay for this program?

Are we then saying that most Americans want severe rationing and service denials? Look at the numbers and tell me with a straight face that it won't happen.....

Are we then saying that most Americans want the above and then no protection beyond what there is now for the Doctors, so that we may see a mass exodus, thanks to the rich malpractice lawyers.....

If most Americans want this, then they agree with the Dems.....but if the above is NOT what they want, then the Dems have not served the American people.....only themselves.....

And before you claim this is propaganda, go back and read a number of my previous posts where I back it up.....

Well said! I can't understand why Obama refuses to listen
to the people? He's the potus of all Americans not just
the 20% of left wing liberals!
This is nuts.

Nothing in the bills being worked on will "destroy our medical system", nor is it "government run healthcare" - it's based on our present private system, except with greater regulation, which is sorely needed. We already have rationing and denials with the private insurance system, so I don't think there will be any negative change in that. Look at me with a straight face & tell me it isn't happening - I've worked with claims and know about it first hand. Doctors need protection from frivolous suits, but to be held accountable when they do commit serious malpractice - patients need protection from these doctors and to be given proper redress when it happens.

There's propaganda on both sides, Hersh.

Should also add the number of Americans who don't have access to employer paid insurance and who cannot get individual insurance is a national shame.
