Vote today.....

Today the Senate Finance Committee voted on the Baucus Bill.....they got a token Rep.....

She made it very very clear that her vote today is not an assurance of the future.....

In other words, this one comes with a poison pill.....

Now, many things had been proposed by Reps and conservative Dems, but the "powers that be" appear to not be impressed and in fact rejected numerous proposed amendments, many of which may well have reduced the cost.....

Now, it is fair and right to point out that the "public option" was also proposed several times and shot down every time.....

Thus, it appears that Baucus wanted this bill to come out - more or less - as it had been written.....a good thing perhaps.....we shall see.....

It still must get "married up" with one other bill in the Senate.....

Then they must get married up in the "conference committee" and then pass both Houses.....

There is still time to push Congress to put the revised and married bills available for citizens to review - BEFORE - any vote.....

But recognize that some provisions need to be in place.....reigning in the rich malpractice lawyers that the Dem leadership appear to be bunk buddies with as a prime example.....and preventing the public option.....

But we shall see.....

It just passed out of committee, so it's got a long ways to go before it's the final bill in the Senate. I don't think the House has it's final bill either. Then they have to merge the 2 bills.

Yes, and it will be behind closed doors... transparent ones I hope..since it was promised to us. I'm sure when it comes out of the closet it will have the public option in it. It won't be anywhere near what the Reps are proposing.

I think it's hilarious how the dems are going on with the bi-partisan stuff! One vote! and she may not vote yeah again. It's funny how cnn and all the others are whooping it up over it! LOL..

NOw it's time for people to speak up and remind their congressmen, they work for US. We don't want a bill that will fine us if we have good insurance, we don't want a bill that takes the freedom of choicing whether to have it or not, we don't want a bill that hurt medicare, or takes more out of our pockets or that will drive up insurance costs..all of which the Backus bill WILL do! Course you won't hear that from the liberal stations! They lie alot and have a one sided agenda.

I liked what Micheal steele said on it.

This is great. We finally have movement. The many steps left may get both sides to get serious and give us some needed reform. If the republicans continue to do the just say no routine we shall be stuck with no reform, just the bribe money going to another party. Oops, I meant lobbyist money.

Don't forget, as it rolls along it will pick up lots of "pork".

There should be rules in place to block adding items to a bill that have nothing to do with the intent of the main bill. A lot of stuff that would never get passed on it's own gets added to popular or must pass legislation. Been that way for decades and Congress will never change it. And the public won't vote our the Congressman/Senator who has brought money to their constituency. As long as that remains the case it's a necessary evil to get needed legislation passed. Voters won't

I am a registered democrat, if this health care bill is forced on us by the democrats, I intend to never vote for any democrat again, and will change my voter registration. If the democrats will not listen or stand up for the people, then I don't intend to stand up for them.

Reform can’t argue with that: Now there are many types of reform…
“To Improve something by removing faults.” Or “ to get rid of unacceptable habits.” Then there is the “reorganization and improvement reform.” Not to forget the “improving change.”?

Yep we need reform…LOL

Like Fly said - the majority want health care REFORM, not a whole new bill with lots of pork and a public option. Also, I don't think the majority want what either Canada or the UK have.
