I'll be visiting New York for Christmas and like to eat out. Usually, I do it alone, but nice restaurants are wasted on the single diner. I feel funny spending bucks for a good meal without someone to talk with about the food at least.

I wish you luck in your quest for a dining companion. I hate to eat alone in a nice place--or any place for that matter. Perhaps you've seen Elaine Boosler's routine "Party of One"? It's a great sketch on eating alone in restaurants.

You might contact: Primetimers view link and see if they have any events going while you are there. It might help to join the group in your area to make the introduction easier plus you would benefit greatly from the local social opportunities they offer. I have been a member in the past and can't say enough positive about the group and their activities. Have a great holiday!
