Some, but not all, of the colleges offering 'life credit' are not legit. And many companies won't accept a degree unless it's from an accredited college or university. As for companies accepting experience instead of a degree, it depends on the company. With the job climate the way it is now, companies can be choosy about who they interview. If you can get in the door, chances are you can talk to the interviewer and prove your worth. But if you don't meet the minimum qualifications posted for the job, the company is probably not going to call you for an interview.

I wish they did have Lifetime Degrees based on Experience from any Legit college for your Past lifetime Experience & Education alone.
ALL Legit accreddited colleges.
& have business involved in the format they seek for these degrees.

All one would do is to mail in Resume & document life skills to date
referrals A-Z, past school & college etc & then create Lifetime degree from that alone.
EZ do.
& or under college Extenstions.
In these Recessionary times ITs Mandated & Needed.
ALL Boomers alone qualify aside Veterans.

Imagine the market for this.

& one can play a Fee for this Service & Business says its OK since it was involved in the process alone.

Imagine a Lifetime degree from Yale, Howard, Harvard, MIT, CalTech etc.
& employers will look at degree & Use.

You might find this article interesting, especially for boomers , a degreee will not get you a job and apparently unless its some extremely rare skill like biotech engineer it won't get someone younger a job either.

Everything's got a price. :)

Degrees are a funny thing, it seems everyone thinks they need one. Sometimes having one is a problem as well. Degrees from diploma mills are pretty much useless, especially if you can't back it up with experience.

I have friend who quit a good administrative assistant job to go to law school. Now she can't get a job as an AA (too much education), but she is a newly licensed attorney with no experience and no knowledge of how to do the work and she can't get a job with a firm. She's too educated and not experienced enough. She can't even get back the old job she had. She's in her 40's. That's merely one story.

When I got out of law school I was overqualified to be a paralegal, could not get a job at Westlaw where I used to work as a research specialist after I passed the bar, didn't qualify for document production because I passed the bar, wasn't experienced enough to work as a public defender, and so on and so forth. Egads!

I ended up facing the fact all I could do with my law degree and bar card was to start a firm. It has been a year and we're just starting to see results.
