My son's friends are all dying

Today they are burying another one of my sons friends. They are all overdosing and "checking out" and leaving small children to deal with it. It makes me so angry! What right do they have to do that? It's bad enough on the parents, sisters brother's etc. but small children doesn't know why Daddy went away and left them. It breaks my heart. How many times have I answered the door or the phone and was so afraid they was telling me my son had overdosed--again and he wouldn't make it. Even now, he's basically clean, when I hear about someone in his town getting killed or being in a drug bust, I wonder if it's him. I figure it will never go away. He is doing so good, has a great live-in girlfriend, great job, and custody of his 18 month old son, but ever once in a while he will go off on a binge, take xanax to excess, and get crazy for a week or two. Then he gets straight and settles back down. He hasn't done that since he's had his son about 2-3 weeks and I'm hoping he won't do it anymore. The baby's Mom is in rehab, or is supposed to be, and she lost custody of both her children because of drugs. My son has a chance of the lifetime to have a great family and life but can he leave the drugs alone for the good life? I sure hope so. He has lost so many friends to drugs lately and I'm hoping he will keep this in mind when he has a chance to do the drugs. Who knows? We can just all pray that our kids will do the right thing.
