New Law in Oklahoma

This one goes into effect on November 1st. To say I find it a step backward is an understatement.

And these are the people that don't want government intrusion into their lives. Taking us back to the 1600's.

It's a blatant invasion of privacy and should be struck down. We can only hope...

This is horrible and I can't believe how it would not be contested at some state level, especially by women's rights.

I'd like to see the legislation on this. It's unreal. I live in Oklahoma, and I'm not an abortion rights advocate, but this is an invasion of privacy and serves no good purpose in the fight for or against abortion rights. I'm glad there is a group already in motion to fight this law. Now if the mothers wanted to voluntarily give information for statistical or research purposes that would be different.

It's offensive and intrusive on so many different levels. As you pointed out, KellyALee, it doesn't matter which side of the fence you're on. This is simply not a good thing.

The replies were more illuminating than the proposed law. Amazing how dyed in the wool, protectors of the Constitution, champions of civil rights and the government staying out of people's business are the very ones who want to be in people's bedrooms, between them and their doctors and into women's sex lives, controlling them and their destinies. Yet don't give a shit about the woman or children that end up being born, sometimes defective, definitely unplanned and unwanted.

Yes, the could use a quarter of a million dollars better spent on education -- one of the most ignorant states in the nation. But they are to ignorant to even consider such a thing. Book larnin' aint that important in Oklahoma for they don't give book larnin' much mind down thar.

PS: I'm for publishing the stats on the 'baby daddys' who impregnated these women. Where family members, and surely there must be many in OKie land, the name of the father, granddaughter, uncle, cousin, married boyfriend, rapist who knocked up their kin or victim. Oh, keep the woman's name private, HIPPAA concerns, but publish the name of the 'baby daddy' and his stats Including how many women or children/teens and their ages that he has knocked up in the previous 10 years. How many children he has, legal and otherwise. And whether or not he is current on his support payments to all of them.

Hang on Dagnabbit....This law is only in keeping with other dumb stuff going down in that thar Sooner State (read cheats). A few statewide laws are:

It's illegal for a bar owner to allow anyone inside to pretend to have sex with a buffalo.
Whaling is illegal.
It's illegal to have the hind legs of farm animals in ones' boots.
Statutory rape is defined as a male over 18 having sex with a female under 18, if she's a virgin.
Tattoos are banned...(Repealed, Effective 11/1/06. Tattoos are now legal in Oklahoma!)
It's illegal to wear your boots to bed.
Fish may not be contained in a fishbowl while on a public bus.
One can buy beer at any service station but the legal limit to drive is 0.01
One cannot buy chilled wine.

City ordinances include.....

In Ada wearing New York Jets clothing carries a jail term.
In Bartlesville no one can own more than 2 adult cats....."Annoying vibrations" are illegal in the city limits.....Playing 'catch' on city streets is illegal.
In Clinton leaning against a public building carries a fine......Molesting a car is illegal
In Hawthahorne it's illegal to place a hypnotized person in a display window
In OKC it's legal to serve alcohol in a pool hall but drunks must leave...Stink bombs are illegal....No one may walk downtown backwards while eating a hamburger
In Tulsa elephants are not to be taken downtown
In Wynona mules may not drink from birdbaths.....Clothes may not be washed in bird baths.

Seems to me this business about publishing the details of abortions sort of fits right in with everything else in Oklahoma. I don't really see a problem.......
