This Chicago neighborhood has many Nobel prize winners. The medal count just went up by one!

Obama's been working on making us a good world neighbor. Instead of the world bully. I find that to be a better choice.

Hahahaha! Yeah, I just saw this on Yahoo. I thought I was having a nightmare, I mean dream. How in the world????? Oh, why should I be surprised? They gave one to Jimmy Carter too. I wonder how much it set the Obama people back. I mean, congratulations Mr. President. LOL!

I doubt you can pay off the Nobel committee. Carter and Obama both have tried to make the world more peaceful. I don't see that as a bad thing.

Diplomacy does beat bullying, IMO. I believe the steps Obama has taken will pay off in the long run.

Good luck with that Cats....pandering and weakness has never proved fruitful in any fight against evil...but keep up the hope...He will probably join the ranks of peace prize winners with Bin Laden and Hugo Chavez in the coming years. The prize just dropped in value about a gazillion points with this ridiculous decision. I'm sure that Ayers is wondering what the heck did he do wrong not to get one too.

Mother Theresa, Desmond Tutu, Albert Schweitzer, George C. Marshall, Norman E. Borlaug, Elie Wiesel, Médecins Sans Frontières, International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) and Jody Williams. All of these people have dedicated their entire or a large part of their adult lives to projects and goals that will improve the lot of humanity, or help those unable to help themselves. Each has additionally inspired others to pursue life paths of help, charity, and service to the world.
Some have performed large deeds, some only comparably small, but each individual has been instrumental in changing the world. And there are a host of others.

Here are 2 of the other 205 Nominees (believed, since the Committee has not yet released the other names).
Dr. Denis Mukwege
Dr Mukwege had treated 21,000 women suffering from devastating gynecological injuries as a result of rape in Congo's brutal war. He is the only gynecologist treating these wounds in the country. Oct. 14, 2008

Handicap International and Cluster Munition Coalition
These organizations are recognized for their consistently serious efforts to clean up cluster bombs, also known as land mines. Innocent civilians are regularly killed worldwide because the unseen bombs explode when stepped upon. Thirty-four nations are known to have air-dropped cluster bombs from the 1970s to the 1990s.

There are an additional 202, individuals or groups who were nominated.
We can laugh or grind our teeth at this years choice. We should all be crying. Sorry, but Dr. Mukwege deserves it more than President Obama, and I have no idea if there were other nominees who deserved it more than Dr. Mukwege.

Cats, don't fool yourself. Everyone has their price these days. Even the Nobel people.

Too bad they couldn't have split it 3 ways, JSant. What a great trio that would have made....Obama, Bin Laden, and Chavez. Perfect.
