Anthony de Mello

As soon as you look at the world through an ideology you are finished. No reality fits an ideology. Life is beyond that. That is why people are always searching for a meaning to life. But life has no meaning; it cannot have meaning because meaning is a formula; meaning is something that makes sense to the mind. Every time you make sense out of reality, you bump into something that destroys the sense you made. Meaning is only found when you go beyond meaning. Life only makes sense when you perceive it as mystery and it makes no sense to the conceptualizing mind.

"Meaning" says to me that something has been put in a box to be measured and defined. Although life has measurements and defining moments, it is oh so much more. Most of it is way beyond our measurements. Ain't it grand?

Spirit keeps saying that by thinking we can only understand the truth's of the ego mind. To understand the truth of spirit, not soul, the soul self must go deep within to the knowing place where THE truth exists. It can't be thought about because only the limited ego centered mind thinks, and what it thinks about is its version of truth.
In the knowing place everything is ONE and therefore all aspects are seen as part of the picture, not just what is thought about.
In this reality we feel we must think, and to a certain extent that is true, because we exist in this type of reality that we have created. This reality is fear based and requires judgement. That, however, is not the intent of the Creative Force. The Creative Force is ONE anf therein lies no judgment.

I realize the above as being true, but only rarely can I enter into the knowing place because I'm still way too deeply involved in the judgment of this world. And that is OK as long as I don't judge myself for it. Then, little by little, the tendency to judge everything I encounter falls away.

You're right about the tendency of humans to judge everything ... not to mention doubt :)

We experience our physical life in the form of a human being ... and many of us learn to judge others from a very young age. Before we learn that, we don't differentiate ourselves from "other". Perhaps that's the knowing we're meant to come back home to.

Trying to understand the esoteric meaning of spirit and life hurts my head. So I try and follow a plan - "each day - do what is right."

Asrai, thank you! My feelings exactly; that which I refer to as God is unreasonable, i.e. it transcends reason, meanings, concepts, and thoughts.
