So what is it like to live in Sri Lanka?
I think the 32 year old male has learned that this is not a dating site.
He has recent activity so maybe he'll come back to this group. He is a member of other travel groups.
Hi Nishanta,
I have traveled extensively and one of my most memorable travel experiences occured in Sri Lanka, December 1977. We arrived in Columbo and took a cab to the Gall Face Hotel, which, sorry to say, was eradicated by the recent tsunami. It was a charming old British hotel with an interior of dark wood walls and floors and numerous ceiling fans. I was back in time.
That night we ate at the main dining room where waiters in black suits and white shirts were there for your slightest whim. After dinner we went to the outdoor garden in the center of the hotel. Moonlight, stars and crickets greeted us. Light through the large restaurant windows gave additional light, though we were still mostly in darkness. As we enjoyed our cocktails the scent of tea and spices from the country's plantations filled the air.
A local man joined us and sold us a travel guide for a week. The price of $11.US per day included the driver, car and gasoline. We drove around all of Sri Lanka for 7 days seeing the major sights. It was an absolute delight. At Kandy, the old Capital, we visited the Temple of the Tooth and were shown the tooth ... for a donation. Ha! I thuroughly enjoyed walking the dirt streets of Kandy and other towns at night, illuminated by torchlight, watching people doing what they do, especially the children.
