how can we help

As we get things organized under new leadership, I wondered what the needs of the group are. What do you come here looking to find? What types of crochet are you interested in.

In other words, how can we help you on your crochet journey? Are you looking for patterns, how-tos, ideas, or just good old conversation? :-)

Let us know so we can serve the needs of the group best.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm a new member who recently came down with the crochet bug again after not doing much for a number of years. I'm here to hear what other people are up to, get some ideas, and talk about what I'm doing. I mostly like small and crafty projects this time around, at least so far.

That's great! What are you working on now? I find I myself have gradually been gravitating toward smaller projects that don't take as much time to complete as well. I used to make primarily afghans and still do occasionally but not nearly as often. Perhaps this is because I'm getting older and have less patience. I've been making a lot of scarves for The Bridge Project since it's getting colder now.

At the moment I'm making things that I am sewing onto store-bought gloves as Christmas gifts. Made a couple of snowflakes, just because I like them - not sure yet what I'll do with them. Made some bags that I'll use to put gifts in for Christmas. Those were my practice pieces to get my fingers used to the movement again. I've mostly been working in thread. I bought some thread to make antimaccassars for one of my chairs, but I may wait until after Christmas to start on that. I have a couple of lovely flowered potholders made by someone else and I'm hoping to find patterns to make some of my own. They are also made with thread.

If you're looking for a particular pattern, if you post the photo someone might recognize it. You could also post it at a forum, like crochetville.org or about.com . If someone recognizes it they can tell you where you can find it.

I personally work primarily with yarn, but I admire those who can do it. The most I do is add borders to fleece or flannel. For that I use a tiny hook end with a thick handle. Doesn't help the eyes, but does wonders for the hands. Heh

Good afternoon webserf!!! Would you be able to show us some of the store-bought gloves that you have "enhanced"? I would love to get fingerless gloves and do the same. Does anyone know if fingerless gloves are available in colors rather than just black? Thanks

Pinkcaddy7, you can make fingerless gloves in any color you like. Just google fingerless gloves + crochet. However, if you just want a simple pair for yourself, just make a chain the length that you want your glove to be and work sc until it fits around your write/forearm. Then join the first and last rows. Voila! You can get a bit of stretch if you work in blo. Then you can make it fit a bit snug so it doesn't come off or slip down. Don't make it too tight though - don't want to cut off anyone's circulation. :-)

Pinkcaddy7, the fingerless gloves I bought looked like these: view link I noticed in the reviews that several people mentioned finding them in dollar stores. I've not had very good luck posting images on Eons, but I'll try posting a photo later.

I posted a photo. I've done 8 pairs so far. They are turning out very nice, so I may do some more.
