dare I say an editable group announcement?
( not that I'm greedy or anything )
he. he. there's a bunch o' you edit gremlins running around, stirring up trouble, acting like an edit feature is no big whup.
But, I'll second that emotion.
couldna been "that" big of a deal-eo Boxer - we used to have it!
Well I still would like to see something done to correct the time of replies of my Eons page--It sure would help to manage or moderate comments made in the various groups--instead of wasting time----checking to find that it is the reply you just looked at five minutes earlier....but it states one minute....
Lady: if I read you correctly...I've learned to rely on 'subscribed group messages' and not the times under 'group activity'. Although, I too, would like to see the time correctly reflected, at least one can get around it. It does require subscribing to each message, however. Which reminds me:
I'd still like to see an automatic subscribe if you reply to a message. The same way it automatically susbscribes you if you write a new message.
I would like a true date/time stamp on messages and replies, instead of this 'about two hours ago', and 1 year ago. 2 years ago. And there is nothing between 1 year ago and 2 years ago. So there is no way of knowing whether it was 13 months ago or 22 months ago.
Today, everything I post then says 2 hours ago.
I still think it's horrible to click a link to read something and then have to go back to whatever else is said by others, or to have to always use a right click to open a new tab. I'm simply not convinced it would be so confusing to most members if a click on a link opened a new tab without all the effort! Even so, wouldn't they eventually 'get it?' Besides, couldn't the link state "opens new tab" to clarify what's going to happen?
Whenever I make a certain suggestion, I feel like I'm not being heard. Maybe that feeling comes more from not being understood. And I get that. I don't explain things very well when I'm feeling passionate about something. Instead of posting a rational suggestion, I post a complaint disguised as a suggestion when I'm frustrated.
So...I've been rationally thinking and here is my suggestion:
On the My Eons page we already have our groups listed along the right side, and underneath there are often two links available:
X new messages
X new members
Logic suggests that if you click on these links you will either see X number of new members or X number of new messages.
Unfortunately, neither is what we see. In fact, we see way too much. So much so, that it makes it impossible to see the X number of new messages or members. That is what I would like to see changed.
If the X new messages link took us to a page that only showed X new messages, it would be great if the following were incorporated:
Formatting that is nice and easy on the eyes, like the My Eons page Recent Activity formatting.
Formatting that resembles a new message post, not a reply post. Like this one:
EONS daily log missing posted to Eons Advisors by Mondami - 6 minutes ago
(Obviously, the group name does not need to be there, because we already know what group we are in.)
Thank you for listening.
Again, I would like to see the manage group functions returned to the Moderators. I just checked on the groups I moderate (not manage, but am a Moderator on) to be sure, and there is no Manage Group button, only a Settings button.
Therefore, moderators cannot do anything to do with the group except delete, close or open posts, and drop and block members.
Therefore if a manager leaves Eons, or is incapacitated for any length of time, the moderators cannot do anything with the group. One manager just recently suddenly left Eons, after having closed her groups to accepting new members, and the remaining moderators could not reopen the group to new members, and Eons staff had to get in there and do it.
Moderators used to have these abilities. As a moderator, I have installed a lot of banners in the past for Managers who were having difficulties. In fact, a couple of them made me moderator for 10 minutes so I could do that and install a new group logo picture.
As a temporary measure I suggest that the times be removed from the my Eons page. I would also like to suggest less lines of spacing so that more results can be included.
