Obama Discretely Lobbying For Public Option In

Senate Health Bill

Not sure how I feel about this one .... time will reveal more. I find it interesting that Obama feels he needs to tip toe on this one. Doesn't want to piss off his campaign contributors?
Hmmmmm.

excerpt:

"Despite months of outward ambivalence about creating a government health insurance plan, the Obama White House has launched a behind-the-scenes campaign to get divided Senate Democrats to take up some version of the idea for a final vote in the coming weeks," The Los Angeles Times reports."

President Obama has been very clear that he is in favor of a public option. I don't think that is what people want to hear so they just don't hear it. The form that the option takes has not yet been defined but he will insist on something that will insure Americans who are now considered uninsurable and he will insist on something that will drive the costs of health insurance down.

It's time for all democrats to quit tip-toeing and start kicking butt! Any reform without a public option is a give away for insurance companies.

Perhaps I've missed the part where Obama has been clear about being in favor of a public option .... and I certainly missed the part where he's pushing for it. I'm sure Emmanuel is telling him to cool it so they don't lose those big bucks from the health care and pharma industry for his next campaign.

Yes, indeed .... it's time for Dems to quit pussy footin' around and get a good, solid Public Option passed.

No Public Option, no re-election ... no kidding!!

I'm going to wait to see the final bill that comes out of Congress and if the President signs it -- before this fat lady starts to sing. All of this speculation is just that – pure speculation; we’re beginning to sound like 24 x 7 cable lol..

Hey, Bunnies, I missed the same message from my Senator, Kay Hagen, a blue dog! I got an e-mail from move on today, I called her office letting her know that unless she supported the public option I would not vote for her again, and would actively work against her!

Low and behold, I was told that she supports the public option! Was a shock to me and moveon. org! I suggested they give a press release stating that!

That being said, I do think President Obama supports a public plan, he needs to state that more boldly, and veto any plan without it. I'm on the Potter's side, anything else is a give away to insurance companies!

The Public Option for health care reform is pretty much dead. The majority of Americans do not support the government controlled health care proposals. There are some reforms needed but the democrat proposals are for a complete overhaul of health care. The public option is dead and should be. Get over it.

Are you watching FOX again Anthony? Their's is the only poll that says what you claim lol... (Their 2008 poll also had McCain beating Obama soundly :0))

Every other poll in the country shows a strong majority are for the public option.

Every person in this country that fails to support a public option should vow to give up their "public" insurance -- Medicare, VA benefits, and certainly those lovely congressional plans!

I'm with Torry. Any "reform" that doesn't include a public option is not enough reform. I work in the medical field and I am sick of the insurance company executives making all the decisions in our health care while they're lining their own pockets - all while millions of people can't get any kind of health care because it won't be profitable enough for those executives. We should be ashamed of ourselves if we continue to let them profit from us the way they have been; I hope our congressmen and senators are listening because I think the majority of American people want a public option and want serious change. And if we don't get it we need to remember it the next time elections roll around. The "moderate" Democrats are supposedly not standing up for a public option out of fear of not being re-elected; we need to make them afraid of NOT voting for a public option.
