Dreary day...........

A friend and I went down state a ways to visit a quilt shop and farm market. Was a lovely day out for me even though it was dreary. The sun came out for a bit and it did not rain. The clouds looked like snow (ooooh nooooo)but this field of pumpkins was nice and bright

and this crab apple tree was fully laden.

We live near Morton, IL., the "Pumpkin Capital", so I know how nice it is to come upon a field of these pumpkins. Your crab apples are beautiful. My mom used them for making jelly. I haven't seen a tree this laden with fruit in a long time.

The Pig Patch is the quilt shop and is located in a wonderful old farm house. I love going to see the farm and antiques inside.

It is still a working farm

Gives me some ideas for my own garden

I have not seen apple trees so full of fruit either in many years. These are all abandoned trees. The deer will have a good Autumn this year.

Haha I dont do Halloween but I love the Fall and the pumpkins laying in the fields. I am hoping for some more nice weekends to get out and about. Get some of the Fall colours. They can be spectacular, but its been rather wet this year again so not sure. So much yet to do in the garden too,.......well maybe I need to plan a very busy day next time the sun is out. Was lovely today but no chance to do much. They say a nice weekend coming up.....can only hope.

Down state, we are having a colder,wetter fall than normal this year like Espirit. What is normal anymore? It's been so long, I don't remember. Thanks for the photos - they are beautiful. Fall is my favorite time of year!

I don't know what normal is either. I know that we usually get 3 bad winters in a row but we have not had the terrible blizzards we used to get up here. Fine by me. Last year was a horrible and long winter and I am hoping that was the third such. I want a couple of those short mild ones but then the skiiers do not like that and I suppose the economy needs a boost. Sigh....still it will be what it will be. It just gets depressing when its so long. Cold I can take....but icy roads no thanks.

The pumpkins are sure pretty out in the field. Love the working farm photos.

I was sitting at the computer when I glanced out the window to an orange and pink cast. I grabbed the camera and took this shot 20 minutes ago. It is now dark outside.
