PIGS~have a sharp memory. Researchers have found that pigs not only have the intelligence level of three-year-old children, they even have amazing memories. When researchers showed a group of pigs a number of objects-including a ball and a frisbee-and taught them the name of each item and how to use it, they sere shocked to find that three years later, those pigs could still instantly distinguish between the different objects, and even fetched them by name!
I'm enjoying your informational tidbits about the various animals, Daisy. I didn't know that pigs were so smart.
Thank you Cat, got more...keep an eye out for them.

Here's Phillip "helping" me work a puzzle.

Gill, Minnie is a beautiful cat, I love the white bib...Vince is a sweetie, should have named him "Shadow". Teehee! Thank you Gill for bringing them into the OBP fold.
Crazy4Cats...Phillip seems to be keeping the pieces of the puzzle from scattering!...teehee... I like making picture puzzles too, but my cats have never seen one, so know that they will want to "HELP" me...
Elephants have big hearts!
When researchers at Emory University placed a huge mirror in the elephant enclosure at the Bronx Zoo, all the elephants understood they were looking at their own reflection~something most animals (and even very young children) can't comprehend! In fact, one elephant, who had a large mark above his eye that he couldn't fee, approached the mirror and gently touched his marking with his trunk, proving he knew he was looking at himself! Researcher Frances de Waal says this proves elephants have an advanced sense of self, which means they have the ability to truly care about others~an emotion previously only associated with apes and humans!
