Love is a Practice

From Thich Nhat Hanh:

"Love is the capacity to take care, to protect, to nourish. If you are not capable of generating that kind of energy toward yourself- if you are not capable of taking care of yourself, of nourishing yourself, of protecting yourself- it is very difficult to take care of another person. In the Buddhist teaching, it's clear that to love oneself is the foundation of the love of other people. Love is a practice. Love is truly a practice."

Hope you're loving yourself today, or practicing that. Best. AJ

Thanks for the inspiration today. Sometimes, life just makes us forget about ourselves as we get involved in what has to be done each day. Coming here to Eons everyday, even for a few minutes, is something beneficial that I do for myself.. Take care and Welcome October!

Why does that take people so long to figure out? It seems to grow with wisdom and age.

Joan, some of us have had parents who made us feel badly about ourselves. It takes time to unlearn that which we learned from them, and realize it was their perception and not the truth.

BarbinBend--true indeed. And others of us truly were loved, but our parents were not able to convey that love, often because their parents failed in the same way, with this failure running down through the generations with no one in sight to blame. All we can do is try to let this be the time and moment when love finds expression--in ourselves for ourselves, and for others.

We all have to have our Karmic influences
gets cleaned off, before we turn Thich Nhat Hanah:
But then, once we take the journey towards it,
every word we start realsing its beauty and
slowly we move towards attaining that sparkling
light within us.

agapejeff, thank you dear
for opening the door of Love.
