Going Green Economically

While many 'green' products cost more initially, they also last longer. Non-toxic cleaning products come in economy sizes and you use less. I am considering adding solar panels to my home; the initial cost is a bit challenging, but there are tax rebates, and there is long term savings on energy bills. You have to consider more than just the price.

Hi. Couldn't help but ask as I've thought about this too, but couldn't find anyone local to answer questions and since I'm not financially ready to find out, didn't want to get into the mess of having a NON-local company come to give me estimates. I've ALSO heard, that if you produce any excess energy that you DON'T use, the local energy companies will actually pay YOU for the extra power. I don't know if that is in all places or what. So, my question is: what is the approximate cost to have these solar panels added (the panels AND the labor to do it)? I guess it depends on the size of the home, but just a ballpark or a jumping off point would help me know what direction I'm headed...
Thanks for your response...
