INTERCESSION

The devotion for today from Our Daily Bread comes from Colossians chapter 4. The question posed by the devotion is "Are we willing to labor fervently in prayer to ask God to meet the needs of our loved ones?"

As I sat on my porch reading, this poem came to my heart. Please excuse any gramer errors. English was never my strong subject.

"Intercession"

As I sit and hear the thunder and
Listen to the gentle falling rain,
I concentrate on praying for friends
Who are in pain.

The Bible tells us to come boldly
Before the throne of grace,
Interceeding for our loved ones
That God's will they may embrace.

I know my Lord is listening,
I can feel His presents near.
As I pray for friends and family,
All the loved ones I hold dear.

So if you have a problem,
Wether it is great or small,
Take it to my Jesus,
For I know He hears them all.

Yes, that was so touching and worth rememberin. I don't do enough praying but, I really don't think anyone knows what is enough. Loved the poem.

faith2 I loved the sentiments in your poem ... but I am a teacher and suffered having poetry lessons drummed into my head by a teacher who insisted on meter and rhyme schemes. So please forgive me I had to do something about modifying your presentation - I hope you don't mind. It is easier to edit than create - I see that now. Below is my attempt:

Sitting midst the thunder
And gently falling rain
I concentrate on praying for
My friends who are in pain

The Bible says come boldly
Before the throne of grace
Come praying for the ones you love
God's will they may embrace

I know my Lord is list'ning
I feel his presence near
While praying for the ones I love
My friends and family, dear

So, if your friends have problems
Whether great or small
Take it to my gracious Lord
I know he hears them all

With sincere appreciation for the reminder to pray at all times for friends and family.

PS - if you would like to use my version please do so (without any need to credit my efforts) it was after all your creativity which produced the idea and first shape after all. Oh, and I won't be at all offended if you feel I have ruined your work and wish to remove or ignore my effort.

I wish I wasn't such a slave to my upbringing - oh, that's what led me to Christ - perhaps not everything I was taught then ...

Kaitiaki, I like your alterations. Proper English does make a differance to the reader. But I don't think it matters to God.

Blessings to all my Christian on line friends. We are traveling & internet access is spotty.

I think you are absolutely right faith2 - and what a blessing to know that he doesn't judge us by what's outside.

I hope you travel safely. May God bless you wherever you pause :)
