Hello

Hi everyone,

I guess everybody has been busy, including myself. Just checking in.
Hope everyone is well. Closing the pool, cleaning up the yard, filling up the hot tub. Getting ready for the New England winter. If you have time drop a line here and let us know what's going on.

Good luck with your projects

Not quite ready to throw in the towel on nice weather here in Illinois yet but, it got down to 43 last night.Think I'll leave the out door stuff in place for a while anyway. Trying to remain optimistic..!

Our weather folks tell us summer is over. Liquid sunshine due to arrive here this evening and stay awhile.

All of my construction projects are shut down. Financing continues as the major issue. Without being able to qualify for FHA financing, we just keep getting sale fails. Another 3 offers early in September went nowhere over this issue. Frustrating and expensive to hold property that was expected to have been sold over 2 years ago.

The tax credit has not been useful without downpayment assistance.

Couldn't find a ol' used door yet - even went to rummage sales - maybe will have to buy a new one at Menards and redo it to make it old and weathered. I'm going to decoupage it and use it as a decoration. I'm good at decoupage - thinking next year of maybe doing some projects and selling them.

wcorr - was in Illinois on Wednesday of last week and it was cool outside - actually wore a warm vest with a sweater - saw my daughter and Grandson and helped her for a day and 1/2 and came home. Not long enough though - love the rummages in Illinois better then Wisconsin, missed it by a day.

Cool in Wisconsin, but very beautiful -going to Door County next weekend if all is well and have some fun seeing the fantastic colors - maybe pick up some leaves and rocks and make a decoration for the livingroom. Stay the night and come back home the next day. It is always alot of fun doing this - to get away and let the worries go to the wayside and be in Nature.

Hi,

No doors, wow, lots of them here. Looks like you're enjoying this time of year. The trees are just starting to turn here in southeastern Massachusetts. Great time to take short trips and enjoy the scenery.

There is always that option of last resort. Go to the dump. We used to do that as a kid. The kids would hunt rats and stuff with a 22 while the adults looked for good stuff. We didn't call it recycling in those days.

You know the Yankee motto - use something until it falls apart. Then take the parts and make something out of them. Yankee thrift was a great virtue. We might get there again.

Hi John,

Great idea, it's amazing what people throw away. Of course it's a lot less in these times, but you are right the dump is a great place to hunt for things. That Yankee motto is is looking better and better.

Have fun,
Hank
