Linda Style -- 9 a.m. - 2p.m. EDT

Hello fellow Eons members!

Have you ever read a romance novel? Do you think they're all about sex? A lot of people have that perception about romance novels, and the truth is, yes some are more sensual than others, but romance novels range from inspirational (faith based) to the other end of the spectrum...and everything in between. The truth is, the stories follow basic novel structure just like any other contemporary or historical novel. Some are short quick reads and others are 400 page family sagas. If you've never read one, stop by to chat and you may win one. I'm going to be giving away two romance novels to two people, chosen at random, who drop in to chat.

I'll be here off and on most of the day to talk or answer questions about the publishing industry, agents, editors, novel writing or even my books. :-) Everything about writing fascinates me, from the craft itself, to the publishing industry, working with agents and editors and even marketing.

I've been hanging around the publishing industry for the past 20 some years and have worked and published in many areas, from brochures to magazines and finally books. I have 13 published novels with Harlequin Enterprises, a worldwide major publisher that publishes everything from romance to non-fiction. My books have won several awards, including the prestigious Daphne du Maurier Award for best book of the year in the romantic mystery and suspense category. All of my books have been published worldwide in many different languages.

Have you always wanted to write a novel? I also teach novel writing online and believe that with the right tools, anyone can learn to write a saleable book. So, if you'd like to talk about that, or anything related to books, writing or the publishing industry, I'll be here most of the day on October 3rd.

To learn more about me and my books, check out my website at www.LindaStyle.com where you can go to the Books page and read some excerpts.

I look forward to seeing you on the 3rd!

"The beautiful part of writing is that you don't have to get it right the first time, unlike, say brain surgery." -- Robert Cormier

Good Morning Everyone!
That's one of my favorite quotes because it's so true. Writers have some latitude and we can just keep working it until we get it the way we want it...or rather...the way our editor wants it. :-) Sometimes.

I'm giving away two of my books today and if you're a winner, you can go to my profile, or my website at www.LindaStyle.com and pick out the one you'd like to read. My last two books are a series, so, while each story stands alone, it's always best to read the first one. "The Mistake She Made" has received 5 Star Top Pick reviews and also had a quick flash on the Today Show when it came out.

That show was about how in this recession, one thing hasn't been affected. In fact, romance novels are flying off the shelves. Good for me! :-)

I'm here and happy to answer any questions you might have about the industry or even the content of my books, so don't be shy. I'll also be posting some writer's tips off and on while I'm here.

I have my coffee in hand, so pull up a chair and join me!!

Linda, in between your chats with visitors could you look in on the workshop? I'm sure you'd be able to give advice to participants in the workshop posted in the book galery.

Once you have a completed manuscript, how do you what publisher to trust to review it and perhaps publish it? Do I need to copyright it on my own, first? LOL! Just kidding!

Oh, and how much editing is done by the publisher? Like I need an editor in my previous question. It should read "how do you know..". Will a publisher change a manuscript's content or ask the writer to change any content?

More question that I thought of. What can a writer expect as far as monetary returns go for a book that is published? Does a writer ever have to pay out of their own pocket during the process of submission to publication? If a manuscript is approved for publication, when and how does the writer get paid? Is it based purely on actual sales royalties?
