What's on your hook this week?

Cooler weather is finally arriving with autumn so I'm finally getting out my stash of yarn and hooks. I've started crocheting a lavender scarf.

Anyone else working on anything?

I was in Wal-Mart and saw some neon colored Red Heart yard for $1.79/skein, so I bought 2 each of 5 colors -- I'm just making a simple ripple afghan that I think my grandaughter will like -- real eye candy!!!

I'm making another baby blacket for my soon-to-be grandbaby. My kids always find a way to keep me busy. :)

I'm working on scarves and squares for a Project Linus afghan. My daughter is working on squares for an afghan we were asked to make for a relative to give as a Christmas gift. I bought Red Heart yarn since it had the colors needed. However, the first two skeins had a lot of places that had to be cut and rejoined.

I'm taking the easy way out. My church is having a sale the first of November, so I'm making hot pads and washcloths. Getting tired of them too! ;)

I have been making baby hats for military hospitals, joining a couple of afghans for wounded soldiers coming home to military hospitals, and making large hats for group home residents in my town for Christmas. Having a problem with my back and can't do much else, so it is good for my crochet projects. I want to make some potholders and scrubbies for the family for Christmas, guess I will try to start on those soon; I see so many places that are counting down to Christmas and I'm beginning to panic. LOL

I'm making crocheted padded hangers: view link

Would love to hear more about the hotpads and washcloths. I'm looking for more quick and easy patterns.

webserf I'm with you -- I really would like some ideas for the hotpads and/or washcloths/dish towels. bean60, PLEASE SHARE if you have a minute! Like you I'm beginning to panic, too. As of today, it's 80 "sleeps" to the big day ! ! ! Now I'm gonna go check out those crocheted padded hangers . . .

I am working on a sweater and a scarf both were ordered. The scarf is shaped like piano keys and the sweater is a paid for pattern I got on line. I am really hoping to get finished with these, cos I have to start on my x-mas gifts - making a PJ doll for my granddaughter and hopefully a afghan for my niece.

I wore some fingerless gloves at the office a week ago and got lots of comments on them, then a few days later saw some at a store really inexpensive. Mine are striped & beaded and the ones at the store are just plain black, so I decided to buy a bunch of them and use crochet to dress them up. I've finished three pair already. I crocheted roses & leaves and sewed those onto two of them and a motif called "Moorish Medallion" on the third. They are turning out really nice, and such a money-saver compared to buying something this nice! Two of the patterns I'm using came from a book called Crochet Stitch Motifs that I borrowed from the library specifically for this project. I like it so much I may put it on my Christmas list.

My favorite potholder pattern is the magic square potholder, not fancy, but super useful. I make them with cotton, either varigated or stripes. Here's the pattern I use:

I do make them a little larger than this pattern, and they make good hotpads, too.
