About BOOMS

I'm a little confused. Whenever I try to use this feature I get a screen that states I am the first one to boom this posting (there are always numbers in the "boom box") and then it asks irrelevant and unanswerable questions about location and where I think it belongs. Is this a glitch or intentional?

Certainly seems to avoid any ONE post getting too many Booms accumulated, since they seem to be "relative" to the "section" you choose to post them to. Can't "see" where other's have posted them.

If I want to Boom something, its because I think others would find it interesting, informative or amusing.

Why can't I just boom it, say why and thats it.

I've had that happen too so therefore don't go ahead with my boom. Why can't we just click on the boom and that's it. I thought it was a rating tool not a tool to get a bunch of info of why you wanted to boom it.

Now I'm really confused...did we get an answer to this? If I try to boom a message that say's it's been boomed 8 times, why does the boom screen say I'm the first to boom it? I didn't see the answer in the previous replies.

Every time someone clicks on the Boom box it keeps a record of those who have clicked the boom box, however, until someone fills out the form it isn't BOOMED. When someone fills out the form ALL of the previous booms are counted in the single boom.

I hope this clarifies it for everyone!

I've had the same issue for several days now (i.e., I've tried unsuccessfully to BOOM several 'already boomed' items) -- the item is already BOOMed multiple times and when I BOOM it, I am taken to the page saying I'm the first and it's asking me for my link!

Prior to several days ago, I was able to BOOM without a problem, so I know how it was vs. how it currently is. There appears to be an administrator filter or some other programming error that may be preventing this feature from working consistently for all members.

Good question. Actually they have received booms not because they were nominated but because of being read or being emailed etc. So for it to officially get into the booming system you need to nominate. You are not creating another booming article.

A secret algorithm factors in how often the article is read, commented on, and emailed to a friend etc... This can all happen before it is categorized by a member. Hope this helps.

Booming is very valuable because it allows user content in front of more people...

Finally this question has already been addressed. Please see our Advisor Index so that we stay organized in our group. Cheers

Sounds like a double secret algorithm is in place...how about the first guy to read/comment/email gets to fill out the form, then that starts the counter?
