Well, I said I'd try to do more checking, LOL. Now here's the report:
Information from WOT about pics.am

Reputation ratings are based on real user
ratings and they
tell you how much other users trust this site.Trustworthiness, Vendor reliability, and Child Safety all have gray - not enough people rating it. Privacy is red, but the people indicators are gray.
Quote from WOT about "Why don't you show the number of ratings?"
"Contrary to what you may think, the number of ratings won't tell you the reliability of a reputation, and showing it could be misleading. WOT shows you the confidence indicator instead (
the small human figures next to each rating symbol.) The confidence value
tells you how reliable the rating system considers the reputation. It's based not only on the quantity of ratings, but also the estimated reliability of the users who rated the site. "
Since all the people indicators are gray, apparently WOT doesn't have a lot of confidence in the ratings that were given. There could be a variety of reasons for this (too few people giving ratings, the people are new to the system or gave the rating via a plugin, etc.) So, this doesn't appear to be a big concern at WOT.
One site I know not to trust has a big warning at the top of its page. There isn't a warning message on the pics.am page at WOT. From this information, it appears that WOT has a little concern about privacy issues at pics.am, but is not concerned enough to show a great big Warning sign about them.
McAfee gives pics.am a greenlight.
"We tested this site and didn't find any significant problems." Info from

However, there was one external link in red in their graphic - npjmp.com,

"Corporate partnerships
In May 2011 the administrators of the Web of Trust add-on announced a
partnership with Facebook. Facebook will integrate the Web of Trust data into its site to warn users of potentially harmful external links posted on users' walls or news feeds.[11]"
OH . . . My . . . Goodness! This looks like something for a new thread, LOL.
Suggestions:
1. Look at the info about the site (if available) at mywot.com to see why WOT shows concern.
2. Use more than one source of info when checking out a website.
3. Consider using other plugins that will warn about or block unsafe sites, tracking cookies and beacons, etc.
4. Be sure your anti-spyware, anti malware, etc. is up-to-date and used properly. (Check out posts/files in the CT&I group for recommendations

5. Consider deleting cookies and clearing history on a regular basis
It's always good to have a heads-up about a site. That way we can check things out for ourselves and decide what to do.
Any other suggestions about sites similar to WOT or McAfee Site Advisor?
