Sundowners

joined this group more than two years ago. I seem to remember some discussion about sundowners. My 86 year old mom (Who has
nph/shunt/mild dementia) was recently hospitalized for a uti and now that she is back in the group home she is wandering, hallucinating (at night). Any thoughts?

I know how that is. I go thru this all the time and today was a real bad day. my mom wasnt like this till she was in hospital 3 times this summer and one was surgury. the nurses said it takes months for the anesthia to get fully out of their system. I had to put slide bolt locks at the top of the doors to keep her from getting outside. You might ask her doctor about prescribing something that might help. thats what we did and it helps after she takes it. my mom still sees and hears things. not sure if she is imaging them because she was really strong at seeing and talking to spirits since she was young.
