I wish to emphasize that the primary purpose of this group is not to be a support group or therapy group for those experiencing difficulties in their lives. It is to offer information about the vast arena that is considered 'psychology', and a place to discuss these topics. Understandably, much of the information that will be offered by various members might be found to be helpful to us in our daily lives, but that is simply to be seen as a side effect, a 'fall-out' if you will, of the general dissemenation of information.
I cannot state strongly enough that if anyone here is seeking counsel from this group, that they will be much better served working in person with a professional in their own geographic location.
Any member who wishes to share their personal experiences and feelings with this group is welcomed to do so, but is forewarned that this is NOT a self-help group, and such sharing may leave the poster vulnerable to negatively judgmental comments and attack by others.
People who are in an emotionally fragile condition may receive negative responses and feedback which they did not expect, and are not able to handle with equinimity.
I like to think that all our members here are kindly disposed toward one another, and post and respond with goodwill and a sensitivity for others' feelings, but I have learned long ago that people are capable of just about anything, and the anonymity of the computer screen brings out the worst in some.
Keep in mind that this group is not private; anyone, - - even non-Eons members, -- can view all the posts and replies in this group, and although I allow no personal attacks in any of my groups, I cannot control what anyone does in PMs.
