There are at least three tire companies that make dual compond tires. A hard compond in the middle with a softer one on the edges.
Bridgestone BTO21, Michlin Pilot Road 2, and Dunlop (I don't know the model)
I'm using the Michlin Pilot Roads. I seem to be getting good milage (I'll let you know when I wear one out) so far I have about 2k on the rear.
They stick very well in the corners and in the wet. I haven't tried them on a track yet and don't think I'll have a chance this year.
