I make myself happy. It is an internal state of being -- not without. It is not in any particular place, with any particular person, or set of circumstances, or in possessions. Happiness I have found as Lincoln said: "People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be."
Happiness is being. Just being. Enjoying the day, the moment. With whatever it brings.

My children are grown with families of their own and two live in other states, so when anyone of them call and I hear their voices and hear them laugh,....that makes me happy...the beautiful sound of their voices...or when I know I have done or said something that makes another feel good, for what ever reason...that makes me happy...ten thousand things could be named and still not be the total of what can make me happy....
Different things at different times. Sometimes it's family, sometimes it's church, sometimes music. But I quit counting on someone else to make me happy.
I agree Rifle, it's not always a people thing for me, it's good things in my life, and I call all of them blessings from God....
Happiness is a state of mind.. it can be a single unimportant thing or something big. Happiness can be inside you, so it's up to you to feel it and reach for it...a smile can bring happiness as well as an important event in your life. To me, just to wake up in the morning, and realize that I'm alive, it makes me happy...
Its a choice you make yourself if you find an person to share it with that's outstanding but remember you are responsible for happiness
I do agree, you have to generate happiness yourself, not always but much of the time. Reaching goals makes me happy as well as talking to family and friends, working at my job and doing my art work. Also eons makes me happy. Most happiness is very temporary and a new supply must be continually found. Eternal happiness is what religion is all about.
Happiness is a glass half full instead of half empty. It's all in how you look at life.
