Thoughts on a 43 year old man living with his mom?
So I met a really sweet man last year around this same time. We started dating exclusively after the first month. I found out after the fact that he has never had his own apartment or house, never been married, never had children. He has worked at the same job for 20 years and has 4 months of unused vacation time because he never misses work. His mother is a lovely woman with a full time job. His middle brother (46) also lives in the 2 bd apartment with them all. He is loyal, kind, generous, honest and not lazy. He recently sold his BMW, which he can afford because he only pays 1/3 of the rent, because he has 28k in debt to pay off. He is now borrowing his brothers car for free so he can take care of this debt. I recently told him that although we have dated for a year, this situation is just not really something I want to choose for a long term relationship. He looked at me as if I had stabbed him in the heart. I felt horrible. Am I being shallow, or am I right to voice my feelings and move on, even though I do love and care about him? Thoughts?
