Nice one WhisperingEagle!
My pulmanary specialist has me on Spiriva and two other inhalers(Asmanex and Foradil) and it is a marked improvement over the Ambivent my primary care physician prescribed for me.
I feel ALMOST like I can take a deep breath. I read today about the new drugs being tested and there is great hope for relief if not the cure.
You all probably know that some of the inhalers do not work well with some blood pressure meds and all your doctors should know what other medications you are taking besides the ones that they have prescribed. Mine (blood pressure meds) had to be changed due to the interaction with Spiriva.
I hope everyone is breathing easy!

At the present, the VA pharmacology is limited on what medications can be used to treat just about anything that any of us would have, so I am on Asmanax and the Combivent. The Asmanax is a once daily medication and the Combivent is the abuterol that is for emergencies. I am also on oxygen and hope that someday I can breath a little better and not just get worse.
I tried logging on to the site you posted and it doesn't seem to be available.
The information came from Yahoo, which I since have learned to go directly to the source website and paste here at Eons. Because some pages on places like yahoo, msn, etc expire. Sorry.......
Hello all i have had c.o.p.d since 2001 at first it was controllable but as years progressed i have found it harder to cope more so living in uk where its mostly cold and damp.
I am at present on spiriva and seretide 500 plus salamol , The spiriva helps abit but as you all know we have good days and bad ones. One thing i did find i changed my drinking habits first thing in the morning instead of drinking coffee i switched to drinking tea and this seemed to help so i dont know if its the tannin which helps .

Jon, You don't happen to drink your tea with a lemon twist do you? Perhaps I'll give up coffee for awhile and see what happens if I just drink tea.
By the way, one of the members here (nanakim) told us her doctor said that lemon reduces the build up of phlegm in the lungs.
Well, Jon, welcome aboard. Looking forward to seeing the UK through your eyes as someone with COPD.
We are going through some tough times here with the government wanting to regulate our health insurance. How does it work (insurance?) on your side of the pond?
Sweet breathing!

We dont have a health Insurance only a under funded N.H.S so depending on how expensive the drug is depends on whether your g.p will let you have it. It has even got to the stage that if you do smoke some doctors will refuse to treat you.
