Mission Statement a.k.a. Sticky Message

Well, you've weighed in on wanting to keep this group as it is, with me as your quasi-cranky leader, and although I recognize that it's partly because nobody else wants the friggin' job, I'll keep it.

However, I'm thinking that it's time to change the introductory Sticky Message and About Us sections. Slyver wrote them, and wrote them beautifully, but since she is no longer manager, and only visits us occasionally, I think it's time to write some new descriptions that capture who we are and what our purpose is. Whatever the hell that is.

Here's your chance to weigh in on that. While I'm away, I'm hoping you'll contribute to this thread, and when I get back, I'll integrate your input (if it doesn't suck, that is) into our new messages.

So, have at it. Who are we, what is our purpose here, and what do we want potential newbies to know about this group?

I think our greatest quality is a lack of purpose.
Please keep the idea of no glitter crap, cheery nonsense or internet shortcuts.
Newbies should know that we are glad they came but not to expect hugs & kisses.
Oh, and keep the message short. No one reads after a certain poi.....

We are a bunch of real people, a chick or two, a few dogs, and who knows what else is lurking around in the bushes. We like to laugh and poke fun at each other more than anything. We're usually in a good mood, and tons of fun to be around, but if we're having a bad day---watch it!. We might charge at you with eyes blazing, profanities flying, and rip you to bits with our razor sharp tongues. Fortunately, we can't remember squat, so every day is a brand new day.

Nobody has any real agenda here. If you do, you're probably in the wrong place. We won't further your cause, promote your religion, or give a damn about your grandkids, puppies, and kitty cats. Don't try to impress us, educate us, or expect us to stay on topic for any length of time. We're sort of like family, if you try to grab the last piece of chicken, you'll probably get stabbed with a few forks. However, if someone tries to stab you and there is no chicken involved, we "might" gather round and defend you, but it will pay to remember the word "might" also implies a "might not".

Ok, I justed posted what rolled off the top of my head. I'm not wearing my red hat so thoughts are flowing freely. Please take my post and edit it, add stuff, remove stuff, reword it, or whatever.....not that y'all need any instruction. None of you could resist doing that. The "group" statement should be created by the group. Dontcha think?

GRM you should take that red hat off more often!
Most of you I've known since I was a newbie - in different groups. The ones that wandered over here are my favorites (ssshhhh don't tell the others )
One big newbie faux paux is to jump in like you know us....take the time to know who we are - at least in our Eons personas.
To avoid getting to that certain point, I will stop now

Maybe we should form a committee and hold meetings for the S&M...er, Sticky Message.
I miss the value and importance of all the meetings I went to in my career.
I'll be sleeping in the back as always.
