HTML Workshop FYI!

Welcome! It's Great to Have You Here!
The HTML workshop was started way back by LeeInFl. There's been many changes in the group and on Eons since that time. And now there are more changes!

We've reverted back to the original name in honor of those HTML pioneers who led the way in making things fun on Eons. "Thank you!" LeeInFl and all the rest!

Also, the replies in this sticky will include some basic HTML tags from the HTML FAQ's file made by Bluesplayer to make it easier for newbies to find. We'll also be able to add some others. If you have any questions about how to use the tags, just ask. We love to help!

Your ideas, tips and suggestions to improve the group are very welcome. Also, If you have a question or a problem, just post and we'll see if we can help! Have Fun!

These are examples from Bluesplayers FAQ file view link Each tag will have a beginning and ending tag enclosed by the less < and > symbols The ending tag also has a slash mark at the front. </

To use the tags, just place the text you want styled between the two tags:

1. Tags That Change Text

<b>...</b>

between the opening tag <b> and the closing tag</b>.

<u>...</u>
underlines the text
between the opening tag <u> and the closing tag</u>.

<i>...</i>

between the opening tag <i> and the closing tag</i>.

<font color="red">...</font>

<font size="4">...</font>

<font face="Courier">...</font>

More from Bluesplayer's FAQ file:

<center>...</center>
centers anything between the opening tag <center> and the closing tag </center>.

<hr>
draws a horizontal line (rule) between sections of text.  We use this in the Workshop Announcement.

<br />  will move the text to the next line.

<p>TEXT FOR A PARAGRAPH</p>  will create a paragraph

I've rewritten some of this from the FAQ file to update it a bit:

3. Tags That Create Links

If you post a direct URL in a message or PM, the Eons message Editor will create a hyperlink and display the words, "View Link".  However, you can use the HTML anchor tags to create a link from your own choice of words.

<a href="DIRECT URL">...The NAME of your link...</a>

will establish a clickable link to a webpage, picture, video, etc. located elsewhere on the internet.  When you use this tag, Eons will display the custom name that you entered in the tag for the link on your page or in your post/PM.  Example:

Have you been to the HTML Workshop lately?

<a href="DIRECT LINK TO WHERE YOU WANT THEM TO GO"><img src="IMAGE LINK"></a>

will establish a clickable link to a webpage, picture, video, etc. located elsewhere on the internet.  When you use this tag, Eons will display the GRAPHIC that you entered in the IMG tag for the link on your page or in your post/PM.  Example:

If you click on the button, it will take you to the home page.
If you have questions or something is not clear, don't hesitate to post. We'll help you until you're comfortable with it yourself.

More to come a little later!
