We play with a lot of CSS code in The Studio, too. You can do much more with CSS in styling fonts and putting pizazz into messages and posts than you can with HTML tags.

Styling with CSS: Contains examples using code that can be used to style font (color, size, face, etc); add borders; add a background color or image; and more.

CSS Font and Text Stylings: Contains charts that give some of the common CSS styles that are used with fonts and text.

As you start playing with code (if that's what you'd like to do) you'll start recognizing some of these snippets in the code when we play. You might also use this list to identify some snippets in embed code you copy from other sites, such as youtube, playlist.com or photobucket.

All these files are "works in progress." You're welcome to make suggestions to help improve them and make them easier for beginners to use. Just post or PM me.

Choosing a ready-made skin for your profile page.
Since you are new to Eons, you might want to choose a ready-made skin and then play with it as you learn to use the skinner. There are some different options to find one you like.

Eons Skin Gallery: view link www.eons.com/skins (You can also get to the Skin Gallery through the skinner or from the drop down list under "Profile" in the top menu on your profile page.)
This is where all of the shared Eons Skins are kept. There are ways to sort the skins here - but not the easiest of ways. You can use the drop down list to browse by: featured, most recently added, least recently added, most recently added and by name You can click under the thumbnail on "Try it" and it will show how the skin will look on your page. If you like how it looks, you can click on "Use this skin". If you want to look at other skins, click "Cancel". If you choose to use the skin, but want to "Customize", be sure to save it when you are through. If you need more help, feel free to ask questions.

Skins Index group: view link www.eons.com/groups/group/skins-index
This group is managed by the Eonsteam. You don't join the group, but simply browse through the posts which lists skins by categories based on the name the creator gave the skin. The group listings haven't been updated in quite a while, but you might find a skin you'd like to use.

The Friends and Skins group: view link www.eons.com/groups/group/friends-and- skins
This group shares skins they have made. Each member posts a thread which lists their most current creations that they are sharing in the Eons Skin Gallery. They give a brief description of what the post contains and then lists the name of the skin with a link to each skin so you can try it out. This could be the easiest way to find a skin you'd like.

If you have any questions about how to select a skin, how to use the skinner or how to create your own skin, we'd love to help you out. Just let us know where you need help.

Posting Links to Your Own Website
We'd love to see what you've done with any web site you've created - personal, non-profit or business. It would especially be helpful if you are seeking help for a problem you are having. However, Eons limits where certain links can be posted. So, to avoid misunderstandings and for consistency, please link to any web site you created with this method:

1) Create a link from your Eons profile page or Eons blog to your personal web site.
2) Then, post a simple message inviting us to go to your Eons profile or Eons blog to view the link.

This method will keep the TOU's between you and Eons. Eons Community Guidelines  - Eons TOU's

This procedure may be a bit of a pain, but it should be in line with the TOU's. Besides, it's another way to invite people to check out your Eons profile page! If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

How do you share a link to a web page in Eons Messages and Posts? How do you share something on Eons with other folks?

Anytime you view a page on the internet, there will be a URL at the top of the browser. So, if you ever want to share a link to a blog, a group message thread, or another page in an Eons group message post or PM, all you need to do is copy the URL and paste it in the message. The Eon's Editor will automatically change the URL into a link. When the message is posted, you'll see "view link" and can click to go to the page.

There is also code you can use to link a URL from your choice of words or from an image. Directions on how to do this is in the Common HTML tags" file.

Eons also has a new "share" button, where you can share something neat you've seen on Eons on lots of other places or through your email program.

If you see this button on a page on Eons, you can share that page. Just click on the button, then click on where you want to share the link to the Eons page. A page will pop up for you to log in to the other site (or fill in your message for the email)

If you need help, don't hesitate to ask!

Can we use like Glitter Graphics for our graphics on here? If so, how and where do we put them on our profile, just like on Myspace? I can put stuff on my page there w/ no problems. Just wondering , Thanks!

Yes, we can use Glitter Graphics.

The easiest place to put them in in the widget areas. You can also send them as comments (you can also comment yourself)

- - - - --

For the widget areas.

Go to your profile page
Scroll down to one of the widget areas
To the right of "Widgets", you'll see "Edit/Add" Click on Add
Paste the code into the textarea box
Choose a location from the dropdown under the box - default, Left column, Middle column, Right column
Click if you want others to be able to click to copy the widget
Click on "Add Widgets"

- - - - - - -

About me

Click on edit across from "About"
Click on Interest and Activities
Put your code in one of the boxes (There is a size limit)
Scroll to the bottom and click "Save Changes"

The interest and activity boxes are actually intended for a list of items separated by commas, so sometimes a comma in code can cause a problem with how it renders. Also, if the code is very long, it won't work. If you get a message that the code is too long, delete the code rather than trying to save the page.

- - - - - -- -

You can also add code in the "More about me" section. Click on the HTML icon and a popup will appear. You can paste the code there and click "Update". The popup will close and you should see the change in the "More About Me" editor. If you like the way it looks, scroll down and click on "Save Changes"

Have Fun!

I am having trouble with some widgets. Some of the widgets that I have added to my profile do not show the image only the words and the link is active when you click on the words. Am I doing something wrong?

The only widget that I saw that had words only had a link to an image that was broken. view link Most likely the folks moved that image.

It appears that this was an image that they were supplying for folks to link back to their site since the alternate message (the words that show up when the picture doesn't) is taking about their site. So, you might go back and look at the same page where you got the image in the first place and see if they have changed the code and the link to the picture.

Which other ones are giving you problems?

BTW, this is just a suggestion - you didn't do anything wrong, LOL, but folks might miss seeing your request for help when you post in this thread. More folks might see you message if you start a new thread. Just a suggestion!
