Just goes to show you...they know everything and will pick and choose what they want to hear to their advantage! lol, great story...
my dogs know what poop and pee is and can go on demand.
Jack-Jack does not like lengthy walks, he will plop down to rest or expect you to carry him. He is only 2yrs old.
Champ is gain for anything and he is 15yrs old! This dog has never been sick and only has been to the vet for shots. I think they should use his blood for immune shots or something. He plays like a puppy and looks likes a puppy. No aging signs, it's weird.
Ha ha -- my doxie also does her business on demand. It took me about 2 years to retrain her since her previous owners let her go in their house -- yech. But now she is good as gold (course a tiny treat afterward helps a lot). She loves walks and travels so rapidly its hard to keep up with her. I must carry water though because she gets overheated easily.
Ginger and I walk to the Post Office every day. At 9am sharp she's waiting for me at the door. She loves it and it helps her keep her girlish figure. She to will go on demand (to the degree that you can ever demand anything from a doxie) her signal has always been "get busy!"

A doxie's "personal" business is so funny.
Beaudreaux simply will NOT go while Dianne has him on a leash , but the minute I come home , grab a fresh cup of coffee , and head outside , my little red shadow is all over the place , and goes through his cute 3 turn arounds in a circle and then takes care of business.
I don't need a leash , he will follow my voice , and obey a few commands . Funny how he loves Dianne but refuses to mind her , thats why she has to have a leash.
The people who used to pay rent for his sleeping quaters didn't train him on anything , then didn't treat him nice when he didn't mind them , so he was very unhappy.
He now knows he is loved , although he still shows a little fear when I reach for him , he is getting more confident all the time.
Beaudreaux was almost 2 when I rescued him , and he's 3 1/2 now , and we have made a LOT of progress.
Harley, if you aren't using one, he might "go" better on a retractable leash. Ginger was the same way on a leash but on the retractable she can move away and have some privacy. She does much better.

I've been using a retractable leash for 2-3 yrs now and we both love it!! My doxie is also very good to my voice commands, but I don't like taking him out where there are a lot of other dogs without being on his leash. Once, 8-10 yrs ago, he was on the beach and 2 huge dogs jumped on him and nearly killed him. MY dog was leashed, not the others. Thank GOD he pulled thru...it was a terribly trying time tho..he had a punctured lung. He has to see the vet often for his back--he only has one back leg. This causes a lot of strain and hurts his back...
Riley makes three circles, too, that's so funny. While she does her business she never takes her eyes off of me, like she is saying "Can't you see I'm busy here". After she is finished she takes a jump as far away from the poop as she can get.
That's so funny, TQ does the same thing...when he does his business, he always turns away from me, but then stares at me over his shoulder the whole time, like "why are you looking at me?" Then he dashes away...
