Oh, and you're allowed to make mistakes and blame yourself and forgive yourself too .. that's where the humanity part comes in.
"...make mistakes and blame yourself and forgive yourself." Barb
*******
A person can do all of that and more even if the gods don't exist.
Not sure of your point Barb?

For me a self made god is only a wish, dreams and words.
I don't want that responsibility or blame.
The gods have alot of explaining to do!

Hi to all Deeper thinkers,
Due to the fact that I've been on and extended RV voyage, It's been two years since I've logged-on to EONS. As a matter of fact, I started this group and I'm glad to see that it's still going.
I've read a lot of the reply's posted here and I can see some of you are indeed "Deeper Thinkers".
In responce to the question orginally posted consider this:
(Read my blog on "Mans Purpose of Life")
First of all Let's consider the Theorys of science which the non-believers adhear to:
All at once there was a big bang and for billions of years the earth and all of it's organic living entities were created and everything has stayed in natural balance over all of this time. Is this possible? Since the earth has all of the elements to create life with a big bang lets take a fire cracker and explode it. Have we created a microscopic organizm? No, just confetti! The big bang theroy is a much harder concept to believe than that of a Creator whom had a master plan and has maintained balance.
Since the first time man looked into the night sky and wondered, he's comptiplated the same things we're discussing here but over the years it's come down to the same conclusion and that is that the only plausable answer is that there is a creator.
You say show the creator to me: I give you these signs: Life - Love - new born babies - food water - faith in something - emotions - kindness - forgiveness - happiness - reasoning power - speach. If you have any of these traits then you have the traits of the creator. So my suggestion is that the creator is a spirit that lives within us and the more we try to become a better person the more we see and feel His presance within us.
Could we move mountains? Peter walked on water until doubt and fear banging into his thought process and deminished his faith. If you want to use the remainder of your mind show that you're worthy by practicing love and forgiveness for all around you.
Love you all!
Bluesman
So should the question be - "Are we vessels of God?"
Blues...you are leaving out a whole lot of evolution....that continues to go on everyday...in the cosmos, on our little blue dot, the earths many changes, the changes in species ect.
Thanks for the devotional...flys well in sunday school I bet.

I've come to the conclusion that pondering on the existence or nonexistence of an omnipresent being is mental masturbation and a waste of the very short time I have to be alive. One big reason it isn't a valuable use of my time anymore is this conclusion: if there is a god then I need to live a good life to get into "heaven"; if there isn't a god I still want to live a good life--it is still important to me to be an honorable person, decent, kind, loving, forgiving, etc.
So either way I want to use my time to think about how to live a good life.
This won't hold for everyone though because some religions-a lot of them actually--require more than living a good life/being a good person to get into heaven.
Why is living a good life now regardless of any eventual reward in the afterlife important to us?
