Are We God??

Someone once said that a grain of "faith" can move a mountain. Jesus said he could walk on water because of his "faith". Are we missing the message here? Are we failing to use our minds to their fullest advantage? Maybe it's not God that makes things happen. Maybe it's merely a belief in a god that does the trick.

It has been shown that when someone under hypnosis believes they have been burned, they sometimes show physical reactions like someone who has actually been burned.
That tells me that there is a direct link between what is imagined in the mind, and the physical world. Perhaps a belief in an external God or gods is our link to the inner mind. If the mind can burn you, why couldn't it heal you? Levitate you? Are what we call "Miracles", "Prophecies", "Visions" actually products of the 80-some percent of the mind we don't understand? What are the possibilities??

How are you defining the "mind?"

The same as the brain or some special entity?

No doubt belief is a powerful force and can make people do great things
and terriable things.

Beliefs don't require an external reality.

An awful lot of miracles, prophecies, and visions have also proved to be a chemical imbalance.

Not only are we not God, I doubt if we qualify as "advanced" compared to the civilizations around us. Remember, the first civilizations we detect will possess interstellar infrastructures which puts them way ahead of us without knowing anything else about them. It's entirely possible that we will discover a civilization so far ahead of us that we barely understand them. Does that make each and every one of them a god? Hmm. It could make a book, but I think Star Trek did such a civilization in their second season of their first incarnation.

In nearly every case, a culture's god(s) is the mental/spiritual resting place for the answers to that culture's unknowns. As answers are revealed through human 'discovery' the inventory of that god's is reduced and the humans inventory increases and they become more god-like. The actual inventory merely changes hands!

Ergo... human is god is human is god... etc. Yes?
