Wonderful memories of my trip to Germany

Several years ago I took a trip to Germany with my now ex hubby, we toured Europe for a month, some of the places were visited included Heidelberg, Wurzburg, Mainz and another part I can't remember where a German friend of mine lived at the time. I absolutely loved it over there. I think my heart is still in Heidelberg, it was the second time I had been there, once with my parents on a tour when I was much younger, but you know how tours are, rush rush rush, so I really didn't even remember being there, to me it was all so new. I remember going to an organ concert at the main church in the center of Heidelberg, if anyone takes a vacation there, that is not to be missed, such a beautiful sound from that organ. We also took a ride down the Neckar River, waited through the locks in the water, I'd never seen anything like that first hand before, a new experience for me. My German friend Angela took us to Mainz and we rode the cable car up to the monument that is there, that was really nice. I'm not much for things having to do with being up high, but....it was worth it for the views. Back in Munich we attended the Oktoberfest, we went in the Pauliner building, neither of us are drinkers so the beer was a bit strong for me needless to say lol. I'm glad I got to experience Oktoberfest, it was quite exciting. The oompah band was playing American country music, go figure lol. We also visited King Ludwigs castle, took a tour to that and stopped off at another castle on the way as well. What a hike it was to that castle, oh my gosh lol. I didn't have a walking stick but wished I had lol. Such a beautiful country, I hold it close to my heart. I guess that is the German in me.:-)

The beer was not half bad! Took this in the Hofbräuhaus in Munich. I guess my son must have liked it too. lol

It was completely legal, too, Taffy. I found this Wikipedia article on drinking ages from countries around the world.

Those beer mugs were huge! We drank out of some at the Oktoberfest. I could barely see my way back to the hotel, lucky we were on foot lol.

I bought a Maßkrug the last time I was at the Oktoberfest. Whenever we have guests I serve it to the man. Full!. Interesting reactions!

Is that what they officially call the bear mugs? You can buy large sized beer mugs in this country, I did for my ex hubby once, but it was not quite as large as the kind you get in Germany.

Lu, there are a number of links in the 'Files' section on the main page under 'Germany bookmarks/favorites', then look in the third group down from the top. One of those is an internet business that sells the liter, glass krugs.
I have two of them that I purchased from the beerglasshopper.com website.
The two other sites listed also have a wealth of info on beer glasses.
