I don't know if I want to scream or cry???
Let me give you an idea of just ONE day in my life.
We are driving about 1500 miles to my high school reunion in a week. We talked about buying a small 21’ motor home for $25,000 to travel in…problem is, it’s an 8 hour drive from where we live to go check out the motor home and if we don't like it we've driven 16 hours for nothing.
DH, who has Parkinson’s, PSP (progressive supranuclear palsy), whatever ???, has decided he wants to travel while he still can…. so, after my reunion we are going to Niagara Falls, NY, Gettysburg, PA, Stuarts Draft, VA, Connelly Springs, NC, Chattanooga, TN and then home, ~4000 miles total.
I contend that for $25,000 plus double the cost of gas from just driving our car, we can stay in a lot of hotels/motels in the next couple of years.
Yesterday DH wanted to go to Odessa (~ 120 mi RT from here) to check out maybe getting a new car. I stopped at Michael’s store to exchange 2 T shirts for a different size…they told me there would be a 20% restock fee for each item. I COULD HAVE PUT THEM BACK ON THE SHELF WHEN I GOT THE SIZE I WANTED!!! I still have the T shirts and DGD WILL wear them!!!!
The dog food our pooch eats has been DC’d so now we have to wean her onto different food before we leave!!!
We went to Wal-mart there ... no handicap parking spaces and no scooters at the entrance we used. They didn’t have material but the OTHER store in town does, how nice. Tom wanted to buy and have them put a battery in his watch. They couldn’t do that, we didn’t “buy the watch there” and the rules changed a couple weeks ago ... they wouldn’t even sell him the battery to put in himself ... SAID they didn’t have that battery.
We drove a car but it was more than I wanted to pay. All the time we were there Tom was pretty unsteady on his feet and had trouble keeping his eyes open (all part of his disease). I asked him if he was going to be able to see and enjoy the places he wanted to go ... ”YES”. But, I’m the one who worries about him and has to keep him safe...we ARE taking his wheelchair.
I got home and the 3 pair of scrub pants and 1 top I ordered had arrived, YEA, they would be cooler than some of the pants I was taking for the trip. I tried them on and they were too small. I have scrub sets in size “M” that I wear but wish they were a little bigger, so I ordered “L”, thinking they would be fine. THEY ARE TOO SMALL!!! So, now to send them back I’m out the $10.50 postage to get them plus whatever it costs me to send them back.
The end of May we drove to Lubbock (200 mi RT and 4 hr drive RT) because our Saturn's “check engine” light came on. They said it was the gas cap and changed it for $62. The other day the light came on again so this morning (before we went to Odessa) I took it to a local car shop and part of it was the fuel cap AGAIN. I called Lubbock and told them I wanted my money back for that visit. They said OK but I need to send the cap back that THEY installed ... YEA, the local shop had given it to me but, now I have to find a box. About a month ago I threw out the gazillion boxes we’d saved “because we MIGHT need them”. I sent it back in a plastic round cake frosting container. Bet they’ll wonder about THAT! HA! HA!
In addition to the ^%#*^ heat, I've been having SOOOO much fun!!!

PS: I've don both in the title.
