Would you have any ideas for grab and go foods that don't need to be kept cold but have protein in them?
Beef jerky is a great one. You can buy it or make it at home. Nuts are also a good option.
Thank you alaskagirl... is it possible to prepare the beef jerky without so much salt? I don't know much about jerky but the last time I tried it (years ago).... it was very salty. Do the nuts but after a few per day , they bother my stomach so can't go over board on them.
Atkins has many low carb bars that are good for the grab and go lifestyle. I find that I can use the peanut bar ones for a satifying subsitute for a meal. You can get them at most drug stores, Sam's club and food markets carry them also. Also the low carb flat bread and low carb tortillas with peanut butter can withstand not being kept cold. Flatbread can be made into chips when they are cut into strips and baked for about 10 min. at 350 degrees. They make a good snack that keeps you from starving. Veggies don't need to be kept that cold, so they can be cut up and taken for a fill in.
Almonds are great too.
Grab and go, that perfect for lo-carb, I live alone, and dont mind at all grabbing a quick steak, a hunk of cheese, some hard boiled eggs. Outside I enjoy those Wendies double bacon cheeseburger without the bun.
Almost two years of it, trygycerides just checked, 76 used to be 360, HDL 67, used to be 45. LDL 211, not that I believe it matters as the they did not measure VLDL. And 185 down from 235.
