I wish you could just come to my house and stay until I knew what I was doing. I don't even know what I don't know. Everything you post is a great help.
2 questions.. or thoughts... one of the links somewhere here (don't remember where) led me to some interesting "brushes" and "vectors"... photoshop of course, but I'm interested in knowing how to make my own brush ... albeit strange at this other site the brushes were more like images ie: flowers, smiley faces, tall buildings - I'm thinking what would you use them for? Then the vectors were equally puzzling.. also images.
I've been using paintshop sev. versions, and I can make brushes there. Some body over in digital paintbrush group has been using a crackle effect in her work and claims it to be in the earliest painter. And she says it's a brush effect. I give up looking for it, so I thought I'd make my own if I can figure out how to do it.
ok.. gimp manual has an instruction for it, but it doesn't show how to make it transparent. I draw the lines and then the image is white.. I'll keep trying. Nite for now.
@mawgwet..this might be what you are looking for. An excellant tutorial on how to create a new Gimp brush from an image. Be sure to pay attention when the author talks about adding greyscale, otherwise you wont be able to change the colors of your new brush.
