A shingle splitter does sound practical, but I'd use something like this for digging out putty around broken windows. (called hack glazing)

I have one of these & it a honey do persuader that my wife uses on me to get her stuff done first. Just kidding she is a very sweet person. I think it may be a log splitter.

Ya certainly could split shingles and shakes with this but.....................

Cooper's Chince or Chincing Iron

This is used for driving the flag into the groove, so even though it looks much like a shipwrights chalking iron, it is more of a driver used in the finial fitting on the hoops on the barrel. Flag is basically river rush, or similar material that will expand in the joints of the barrel when the flag comes in contact will liquid inside the barrel. This iron has a nearly sharp edge that is about 1.5" wide and tapers to a near point at one end.

wow i understand the explanation less then i do the tool. but ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i would use it to separate the pallet pieces and pull the nail out along the way.
