Young at Heart
The next few times we went to see Ma Katie, she didn't know us. We took her out on the veranda and she said, "We aren't allowed with strangers," and rolled back in.
Then we bought her a new pair of red Keds for summer with flowers on them. She loved them and kept looking at us. I told her my husband was her son and she said, "When did you get so old?"
Then I showed her a pic of me and her on her birthday and she said, "Who is that woman?" and I said, "You" and she said, "When did I get so old?"
In her mind, she must still be young. I know she is still young at heart!
