one big happy family!

Hello, we are back from our camping trip and this was one of the best we have had
ever! Barney was much better this time, a little excited by all of the people, but much less destructive and listened to us pretty well. We were a little unhappy at some aggressive behavior (growling and hair standing up on his neck) he showed towards a little boy on a bike. Not sure if he was scared of the boy's bike or was in protective mode (the boy crossed into our camp site) but it is something we need to work on. He doesn't spend much time around little children and Lucy has never been great with kids either. It is a "dalmatian thing". I have lots to do around here to get caught up and ready for another wonderful week of work (not), so will talk to you all soon. I hope everyone had a great, long holiday weekend. Our weather was perfect (no thunderstorms) and we met lots of really nice people. Have a great afternoon everyone.

Good to hear. I have heard of the dalmation/kids thing. Maybe you could borrow a few and have them come over with pockets of dog biscuits. Mia had a tent camping weekend. She was great, but is home exhausted. I'm thinking she didn't sleep as well in the tent as she does on the bed!

I've also heard that dalmations get really nervous around kids, but hey, can you really blame them, LOL?! I'm glad you got back safe Ina and had a good time!

Hey, Ina! Glad you had fun. Sometimes I get really nervous around kids, too. LOL Give her time and training, she's still a kid herself!

Barney seems to do well with the neighborhood kids around here-I am thinking it is the bicycle he is afraid of. We will go out for another road trip in August and hope for his continuing good behavior...
what a sweet dog he turned out to be!

Glad you had a good time! Barney was probably scared of the bike AND maybe got territorial...after all...a dog stes boundaries and parameters...and a stranger encroached on those...with a bike no less! OMG!

Barney said "MOMMY! THERE'S A STRANGE KID IN OUR CAMPSITE! WATCH OUT! HE HAS A SPACESHIP!" lol

there was a little green plastic man (about three feet tall) at the campground, marking the curve in the road at the ballfield
this little man held a caution flag that said "slow, children at play" to warn people coming around the curve in their campers
each and every time we passed this little man Barney stopped and barked at him and could not figure out what it was
he sniffed it and growled at it every time all weekend
I think the little boy on the bike reminded him of this little man and that scared him-what a baby he is!
