Prayers for the soldiers are always needed.

Amen... the Capitol 4th Concert on PBS was amazing and uplifting! We need more of that, all through the year... where is our patriotism?
The concert was indeed magnificent.
As to wehre our patriotism is, that's a good question.
Look around when you're at a sporting event and the Star Spangled Banner is played. Who's hand is over their heart? Us old folks, service people, scouts. The rest of the younger folks fidiget around until it's over and the event begins.
Like prayer, patriotism is nonexistent in schools. Oh, here and there the Pledge of Allegiance shows up, but the kids can't sing God Bless America, or This Is My Country or even the little ditty about Betsy Ross living on Arch Street near Second. (Maybe the latter is just a Philly thing, she was a native)
Somewhere - Vietnam probably - we stopped expressing our pride.
