CHILDBIRTH AT 65

With all the new technology regarding fertility recently, a 65-year-old friend of mine was able to give birth. When she was discharged from the hospital and went home, I went to visit...

'May I see the new baby?' I asked

'Not yet,' She said 'I'll make coffee and we can visit for a while first.'

Thirty minutes had passed, and I asked, 'May I see the new baby now?'

'No, not yet,' She said.

After another few minutes had elapsed, I asked again, 'May I see the baby now?'

'No, not yet,' replied my friend...

Growing very impatient, I asked, 'Well, when can I see the baby?'

'WHEN HE CRIES!' she told me.

'WHEN HE CRIES?' I demanded. 'Why do I have to wait until he CRIES?'

'BECAUSE I FORGOT WHERE I PUT HIM, O.K.?!!'

OMG! now that is a scary thought!

Having a baby at 65??? Not me!!! I'll be out having too much fun to stay in caring for a newborn:)

There is a reason nature made it harder to get pregnant when you're older - you don't have the stamina to deal with the strain of taking care of babies and raising them into reasonable adults!

My second child had colic, and I thought I would drop dead from exhaustion in deaing with him and his four year old brother!

Have at baby at age 65??? No thanks!

Yes, I am 53 with a 9yo and 11yo and that's hard enough. Teen yrs, don't even want to think about it. I think I'll run away.

God bless you Joan! Now I didn't have my children young either. I was 33 when the first one was born, and 37 when the second one came along. I think the key with having children when you are older is to have a lot of support (if possible). I didn't have family around, so I had to stay well and energetic.

Yes, teen years are rough. Just remember that is does pass. Of course you've got to watch them when they get their driver licenses - constant reminders about being careful!

Those are two nightmares in my book. Still, I laughed.

Yeah, you gotta laugh, or else you'll cry.

Just think, PTA and parent-teacher meetings at 80. Is that a scary thought or what?
