Wow Storm! I have not heard that term in years! Lol! That goes back to Colonial times and even further when someone was sentenced to flogging it was done in the center of town where all could see for crimes that were worthy of such punishment. Personal flogging by the parents to their children was done behind the barn or woodshed. What we now call a good spanking for disobedience to the rules of the house.
