Nothing much has changed at Eons in the last few months. We had an isolated problem that had to do with sending PMs and gifts but it has been temporarily patched. *Our* servers are serving up pages as quickly as ever and traffic has not increased dramatically (much to our dismay). I emphasize "our" because the site also relies on various ad servers that are not under our control and that may contribute to a sensation of slow-ness (depending on how your browser works and other variables too numerous to mention).
Truly slow performance - as described by Wisewolf - indicates a problem that is probably close to Wisewolf's end of the network. We had a member who was experiencing similar delays - seemingly affecting only Eons. After debugging his home network (and finding no issue), he called his ISP and luckily spoke to someone knowledgeable. As I understand it, they had to reset a switch in his area (which they could do remotely) and, presto, speed!
So here's my advice, Wisewolf. Power-down any network equipment you have. Starting with the DSL or Cable modem and ending with your computer, power back up. If you normally use a wireless, you should try connecting your computer directly to the modem. (A weak wireless connection can cause extreme delays.) If things are still slow, try contacting your ISP.
Another good idea - if you have the option - find another internet connection (internet café, library, friend's house) and log on to Eons to compare performance. This will give you a valuable reference point.
I find the best time to logon, is in the morning, when there is not as many people using the site.
The Internet is gaining more and more new users every day, soon we'll all be getting the same speeds that we used to enjoy when using our dial-up connections.
When EONS is being really slow to load look down at your task bar (bottom bar of your browser) and most times you will see that it is one of the off site ad servers (doubleclick, collective-media, amazonaws, burstnet, etc) that is causing the wait.
My sister suggested I go thru all of my collected messages, and gifts, and delete them, as she felt that this might be the problem. It just might have been, because I had over 500 gifts, and nearly 250 pages of messages. I did delete, all but a few, and things seem to be back to normal now.
So, thank you all for the suggestions, I think things will be alright now!

EONS is getting slower..... like the rest of us!
With everyone adding this and that to their pages, music, graphics and the like that will tend to make the pages load slowly.
But clear your cache as mentioned previously, and usually it is about as fast as other web sites.
We are NOT getting slower, we ARE getting better.
