Rattle Snakes can hop pretty high and far too. I wouldnt do anything that might piss them off. But then I have seen some big ones. The Pygmy Rattlers scare me more. Their rattles sound like buzzing bees, so they are hard to hear, and you might not initially recognize that sound as a warning that real danger is near.
The only time I might try to wrangle a rattler or any poisonous snake is if, I were trying to get it out of striking distance of a kid.
About 20 years ago I got stung by a clear looking scorpion while I was going through customs in Puerto Vallarta....IN THE AIRPORT!!!!! I screamed it hurt so bad...came back to Houston and had a nasty time dealing with that..my foot swelled up like a dura log......unpleasant to say the least...
Got extremely ill.....
