I do not think I am selfish at all! I truly care about people and will go out of my way to try to make people happy. I am also very charitable, and care about people and their needs. I prefer to give rather then to receive.
Not enough at times to the fact I put myself last at least that is the way I see me. I wonder is selfish a good thing at times and even necessary?
I think sometimes you can be to nice to people and they will start taking advantage of you. Then you may end up suffering because of it. So I think it is true to be selfish sometimes when people start to take advantage of you.
I think I am appropriately "selfish" right now which means I try to stay within certain boundaries. That hasn't always been the case. Sometimes I gave and did way too much and at other times not enough. It can be a lifelong challenge to establish and maintain healthy boundaries. But, once that happens relationships begin to work better and selfishness no longer is something to be concerned about.
This is hard for me since I am still raising kids. I am selfish and immediately get comments from the peanut gang. I just take on moments when I can.
I'm not usually a selfish person, BUT I do have priorities and boundaries. And since those are both healthy things to have, I suppose I'm doing fine.
Chillin, I'm still raising kids too and can definitely relate to your situation.

I'm not selfish at all. I do a lot for others and enjoy it...BUT
I also love to receive. I love having someone care enough about me to do certain things from that caring place....some may think its not OK to admit that...but I think its ok. Receiving makes me feel loved and cared for while giving gives me a chance to love back. There has to be a balance between giving and receiving. If not someone is not doing their share, and I call that a selfish person and a "falling apart" just waiting to happen.
